The Future of Everything

Posted: March 23rd, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

Space Collective and its inspirational online gallery has been around a few years now, but whenever I find myself at their site I'm always impressed at their uniquely futuristic vision of mankind, deftly blending  futurology and aesthetic design at their gallery. SpaceCollective.org was founded by Rene Daalder and Folkert Gorter and is built from the ground up for one purpose alone and that is to inspire. Even if you're not a particularly big fan of art this is one site I definitely recommend, it's almost like a portal to a cultural destiny. Through all forms and mediums of art it entices you to speculate on the shapes, styles and colour of things to come. Plus there are plenty of speculative posts on just about everything under the sun, and everyone of them bravely steps out into a theoretical destiny.

Guaranteed to make you think, SC constantly scour the net for the most prophetic visionaries for images, designs and statements of intent that capture what I and many others out there feel about our lives. today We are all living on the brink of potential, battling with the desires of what could be in order to function in a society that may never see this golden future. That is if the climate, economy, and various wars around the world keep getting worse.

Still, I'm always up for a bit of futurology no matter how fantastical it might seem right now. To warm you up here's one of their many manifestos:-

"SpaceCollective. Where forward thinking terrestrials exchange ideas and information about the state of the species, their planet and the universe, living the lives of science fiction today".

There have been art movements in the past that have focused purely on the future, the Italian Futurists for instance, although that seemed more to do with fast cars, trains and ships than any real vision of man's fate. SC marriage science and art in a way that few can, check out a few of their images so you know why I'm harping on about this site.

I really can't cover everything that the Space Collective does in a blog post, let's just say both creatively and artistically, they're still one of the frontrunners in the "blow your mind" category of life. Check them out yourself at www.SpaceCollective.org.

Ripo Goes "Historic" Outside Barcelona

hotel_historic.jpg

From Ripo: “This new big wall is from an abandoned hotel near Barcelona. This place was not Historic and I can’t say about the piece itself. It’s simply a commentary on the act of painting and putting in time and effort at a forgotten and abandoned place, unquestionably giving it a history that is new and unique.”
