Operation Golden Whatnot

Posted: September 15th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

I’ve got a couple (OK, a lot) of female friends who’d do anything for 18 inches of military muscle, but I like Frank Kozik’s Army Man (Gold) for its ornamental properties.

Never heard of  him? Find out more: http://fkozik.com/about.php.

Limited to 50, each comes with 4 interchangeable hands to suit your mood: grenade, gun, rubber chicken and empty.

NFI, but you can buy one here:  http://shop.juxtapoz.com/detail.php?id=317.

blah blah blah

Get one before they go AWOL

I’m not sure exactly how many colourways are knocking about, but if you’d prefer red, try here: http://bit.ly/JYjAX, black, try here: http://bit.ly/seMcG, or bronze, try here: http://bit.ly/1ATAO. There’s also a green version, a metallic blue version and possibly even a white version too, but it’s gold or red all the way for me.

Until next time.

Bower Ashton Paint Jam Next Tuesday

Posted: September 15th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

Not a lot of people know, but Bower Ashton campus of UWE has a fair old history in the world of Bristol graffiti. Lots of well known writers have passed through its doors over the last few years, in fact for some it’s the reason they came to Bristol in the first place. Well, if not the reason, then perhaps the justification…

Just one example of it, courtesy of Neil, the back wall of the bar there painted by Sickboy back in 2000 or so. Early as you like.

So, from the good people that brought you the ‘Not Just Banksy’ event a while back, and co-inciding with Fresher’s Week, a large paint jam’s been organised down there for next Tuesday (22nd September). Here’s the chat;

Bower Ashton Paint Jam

Tuesday, 22 September 2009

12:00 – 5pm ish

Bristol’s
FLX – SEPR – LOKEY – SOKER

UWE’s
Iria – Kitt – Zier – Tribe One – Stove – Jedi One – Goe – Midas

And some surprise guests

Turntable Tuesday DJs in the bar.

Wouldn’t be a student event if it wasn’t being organised through Facebook, so check it out for more over there. If you want to see some of what happened at the last one, auntie beeb has some footage here. Otherwise head down to Kennel Lodge Road at the bottom of Ashton Court a week today.

Graffiti on the Thalys

Posted: September 15th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

The FatCap Team was invited to the most unexpected graffiti project of the year : 4 notorious graffiti artists painting live the new Thalys Paris – Cologne. Who could imagine ten years ago, that one day a legal project like this would be possible?? In 2009 it’s reality…

SEAK (Cologne), Jonone (Paris), Sozyone (Brussels), and Zedz (Amsterdam) painted four cars of the European king train today at “Gare du Nord” in Paris. They had 3 hours and 15 minutes to finish the painting, that’s the new time the new Thalys needs from Paris to Cologne.

Here’s some pics we took today. We’ll publish more about the artists and the session for the release of our new site at the end of the month :)    Stay tuned!

Enjoy!

Bristol Festival Painting

Posted: September 15th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

It’s the Bristol Festival next weekend, promising to be as good as last years, and this time without the doubters. One change from last year though, whilst there’s going to be loads of painted boards up around the site, the council aren’t letting them paint them on site. Tagging on the floor last time apparently, even though none of the taggers were people who were painting the boards, so hard to see how it’s connected really.

Real shame that, there was a great atmosphere down there in the week running up to the festival, everyone hanging out and painting together created something really special. Still though, not to be beaten, the boards are being painted down in the south of the city as people have time. Meant to get down there last weekend but spectacularly failed, so thankfully Jon Davey’s been down for some snaps…

…and another of his panoramas.

All looking good from the photos, and if this blog were Huggy Bear, word on the street is that there are some other pretty spectacular pieces already done as well. Look forward to seeing them…
