The Signtologist Urban Art – Street Sign Artist
DUNN aka The Signtologist, has been doing some pretty unique painting using street signs as the canvas for a while now, and they’re awesome!
His art has a great style, with bold silhouettes and instantly recognisable legends from the world of music (especially hip hop) and popular/counter culture.

Sainty Show At Friend and Co Tonight

Posted: July 2nd, 2009 | Author: graggregator | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

friends_flyer06

This looks like being a goody, Sainty from the What Collective has got a show down at the small but perfectly formed Friend and Co Gallery on the Gloucester Road Promenade tonight, opening at 7:30pm.

Definitely worth dropping down for a beer in the sunshine if you’re around.

Incidentally, here’s a video we got sent a few months back, a commercial production Sainty went out the states for to work on with others.

Paris And Mudwig Paint Some Shelters, Glastonbury 2009

Posted: July 2nd, 2009 | Author: graggregator | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

Last year Paris and Mudwig did some really good work on the little shelter things they put up in the Park and Flagtopia at Glastonbury, so this year they were asked back again early on to do some more, mostly in the backstage area between the Pyramid and Other stages. It’s one of the most horrible, soulless, desperate and depressing places on the entire site where no-one in their right mind would want to spend more than 5 minutes, so they did a good job brightening it up.

Best done as a gallery this, so, from top to bottom, there’s some shelters by Paris and/or Mudwig up in the Park in Flagtopia, a couple of them done last year, as well as a couple by Oxygen Thieves who were all over the site generally as well.

Then after that a load of signs done by Paris, commissioned to run along the outside of the backstage Pyramid bar, Sergio was a particular triumph apparently. Last of all, a whole load of new Paris and Mudwig painting done on the back of shelters there, mixed in with a couple from previous years that have still survived.

Don't know who did this one either, bit Cyclops in a way.

Big Letter In The Cabaret Field, Glastonbury 2009

Posted: July 2nd, 2009 | Author: graggregator | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

The Cabaret Field used to be home to the ‘love’ letters, big constructions that spelled out the word ‘love’ and got painted by all sorts of people as the festival went on. They didn’t seem to be around this year, but there was one big construction of a letter just outside the Cabaret Tent at Glastonbury this year that got painted, tagged and generally written on as time passed.

Most of it wasn’t worth covering really, but there were some odd bits on it here and there.

The main stencils on it were the panda with guns that’s been around Bristol a bit over the years. Didn’t someone once claim it was a Banksy?

Either way, these ones almost certainly weren’t, sprayed in a positive and negative…

…and none too cleanly either.

Oddest of all were lots of Banksy ‘Rude Copper’ stencils, poorly cut copy of an image that he never really stenciled that much anyway (if at all?).

Nice to see one of these stickers there, spotted one on the side of the road on the way into the festival too.

Finally, the Art Tart was around as well, couple of these around this field.

Another Non Banksy

Slow news day at the Evening Post today then as the silly season months start, a new piece down by the M32 in St Pauls, a stencil of Michael Jackson. Doesn’t look anything like a Banksy, cos it’s not, but have a look for yourself here…
