Switzerland Graffiti Week Finishes and Phone Empty

Posted: March 13th, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »
Here are a few graffiti pics I’ve found on my phone, from Barcelona and London, and some more train graffiti photos from the Zurich & Berne train trips.

Also, check out the Flickr account for the rest of the photos, there are loads I’ve not put up this week (admittedly of varying quality).

Zurich to Berne, Switzerland graffiti, photos taken from the train, the last in the Swiss Graffiti week series. Thanks Switzerland, sick art.

This is very cool.

North London, England graffiti, 2008, all the below are from the phone clear-out.

Wooster favorite Mary Ellen Mark has been selected as one of eleven world-renowned photographers commissioned by USA Network for “Character Project” a photographic document of the characters that make up the “face” of our American landscape.

In addition to MEM, the project features new work by Sylvia Plachy as well as Dawoud Bey, Jeff Dunas, David Eustace, Eric Ogden and emerging talents Marla Rutherford, Anna Mia Davidson, Joe Fornabaio, Eric McNatt and Richard Renaldi.

Later this month, Chronicle Books is releasing American Character: A Photographic Journey which brings together these photographers provocative perspectives on America’s most compelling characters. The book is a collaborative initiative between USA Network and the not-for-profit photography organization, Aperture Foundation.

Mudwig Show At The Friend And Co Gallery

mudwig-friend-gallery-day

…was what it looked like in the run up to the show.

Tonight though, was the opening of the Mudwig show at the Friend and Co Gallery on Gloucester Road. The kind of show you come back with pictures from, look at them, think ‘damn, there aren’t that many’, then realise you don’t need many.

This, in essence, was the show.

Bit closer there, two classic Mudwig paintings, almost a diptych, if it weren’t for their position.

On the left, her top half…

…on the right her bottom.

Down below was the print for the show, really nice in the flesh.

Right at the back in the bottom corner, the wall painting for the show, four tiny mudchips. No good photo of them, and they seem all the better for it.

The boards outside had been painted too. No easy photo of them in the dark (there’s a better one here), so here’s a rubbish pseudo arty one.

Really cool show, especially with the soundtrack that was accompanying the pieces for the night. With the RWA show build up on at the moment, a lot of the crowd were artists and writers catching up, even those now normally over in London. A lot of love, and a lot of fun. Top night.
