Solveig – The new, female 10 year old Banksy? Eh?

Posted: February 23rd, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »
Sloveig

A girl of 10 has been labelled the female Banksy (is that such a great label these days?), she started painting her creations on special legal graffiti sites around Brighton, Sussex, at the age of eight. Her name is Solveig (her first name and tag name). Got to say, I like her style! Has a cool bold look, I can see slight similarities to Blu.

Now I’ve gone and compared her to a legend. Hmmmm.

Ignore me, and check out some of her art, awesome!

New Secret Wars/Havana Club Indoor graffiti Competition!

Posted: February 23rd, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »
Secret Wars crew join forces with Havana Club for a live, one-off art battle at Village Underground, London EC1.

Taking place on 4th March from 7pm, the live art battle will see each team create their very own, unique interpretation of Cuba using only coloured acrylics on a 20ft white wall.

Check out the previous post on a Secret Wars indoor graffiti competition I went to see, it was brilliant! Read more about the event on HUCK Magazine.

Sweden train vandalised for art

Posted: February 23rd, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »
An art student has graffed inside a train, then smashed a window to jump out, filmed the whole thing then submitted it as an art project, naming it ‘Territorial Pissing’. The train company is pissed, and the college is saying it’s not proven that he did the actual act, he may just have filmed it.

Go on Mr. College, it’s good to hear they’re sticking up for the guy. Not the most intelligent thing he could have done though, let’s be honest…

Great bit of graffiti from near Amsterdam town centre, on a temporary wall in 2006, SWED?

I like the simplicity of the graffiti below, the symbols in the lettering look cool too.

More crazy graffiti, from the same place as the DISH piece from an earlier post, you can just see how they linked up. Was just a minute from the main Amsterdam Square, taken in 2006. Any one got an idea of who painted it? Great style.
Saw this artists colours all over Amsterdam, worked well I think. Below is another I saw, I’m assuming by the same artist…

Amsterdam Graffiti MIHZ

Nice bit of graffiti art from MIHZ, Amsterdam Holland 2007.

Wicked graffiti art from Amsterdam, Holland 2007 (not MIHZ). It was right under street lighting so it was hard to photograph (enough with the excuses now). Still, looks great! I wonder if it’s done by the same artist who did the car sketch graffiti

How weird is this, was on the site of a building in the middle of nowhere in the Swiss alps. Great bit of Swiss graffiti though!

I really like this graffiti from Amsterdam, almost looks like it’s a sketch on the wall.

Blu – World Graffiti & Urban Art

Posted: February 23rd, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »
Pretty much everyone knows Blu’s art, but it’d be rude to try and do a graffiti art blog and not mention him.

Italian artist Blu combines an almost child-like and detailed drawing style with a mix of political messages. He uses a really nice mix of line drawing and colour too. Blu’s website is awesome and features a bunch of his wall mural animations and sketch drawings, done using a large scale stop-motion technique, they’re pretty mind-blowing.

In his book you can see a bunch of sketches too, it’s really a great book. Here is one of Blu’s video murals, Muto. It’s been around for ages and has been seen by a gazillion people and I still love it.

I really like is that the politics is mixed with humour and a wicked style.

New graffiti and urban art paintings/murals from 2008 and 2009 from Blu!

This Amsterdam graffiti looks like the sort of thing David Beckham would tattoo on his arse. I like it. Cool yellow.

A bit more graffiti from Amsterdam, it was on a temporary wall next to a building site so it’s probably gone now. Shame about the weird yellow lighting they had, but you can still see the cactus, nice!

New Blu Graffiti Video – Cox18

Posted: February 23rd, 2009 | Author: | Filed under: Graf | No Comments »

Cox18 – Blu Graffiti Art Video

Here is a great new video of Blu doing a new piece, Cox18. Done in stop motion. Top stuff.

Painted in Milan, Italy, Blu says the art relates to the Conchetta Squat (Cox 18) where in January 2009 about a hundred policeman emptied a squat that was occupied more than 33 years ago.

The building was until this point used by many for meetings, dances and discussion groups, and various historical archives of books are kept and shared.

It stands as a symbol of culture in Milan, and there has been a fierce backlash from artists in Italy. Support the fight to take back Cox 18, sign the petition to save Cox 18.

switzerland graffiti 10, originally uploaded by jameswarren2000.

Took this from the train from Geneva to Zurich, it’s an amazing journey to spot great graffiti because the sides of the track are mostly concrete walls, although they are adding some anti-graffiti walls too (people are still painting them though).

The stretch between Basel and Zurich is especially great!
